A youth committed suicide by burning himself at Rahmatpur area in Babuganj of Barisal on Thursday morning.
The victim was identified as Russell Hossain, 26, son of Moktar Hossain, of the area.
Shaheduzzaman, Barisal Airport police station officer in charge, said Russell working as day labour deposited some savings to his mother.
On Tuesday Russell demanded that money from his mother and poor mother failed to return the amount as it was expend for family needs.
Then Russell emotionally putting kerosene on his body set fire.
He was sent to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital by family members on Tuesday afternoon and admitted at medicine ward.
However Russell succumbed to his severe burn injuries at SBMCH on Thursday early morning, said Abul Kalam, ward master SBMCH.
Dead body of the victim sent to SBMCH morgue and handed over to family members after autopsy on Thursday evening after lodging a case of unnatural death, police sources said.
