In Gafargaon, Mymensingh, a young man named Masud (25) committed suicide by consuming rat poison due to family feud.
The incident took place at Kathali Dinga village in Yashra union of the upazila on Sunday. Masud Mia is the son of late Mofiz Uddin Fakir of the village.
According to local sources, Masud married Samira Akhter, daughter of Haru Miah of Mridhabazar area of Roy village of Trishal police station near Gafargaon on April 23. He was not getting along with the bride since the marriage. Masood’s wife Samira Akhter had recently left for her father’s house and had been missing for several days. When Masood was forced to take his wife back from his father-in-law’s house after returning to his father’s house, a quarrel broke out. He later drank poison on Sunday afternoon. After initial treatment, he died at around 2 am Anukul Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Gafargaon police station, said, “We have heard about the incident and sent our police personnel. Necessary steps will be taken after investigating the incident.”
