Miscreants chopped a youth to death in front of one Shahabuddin’s shop at Ukhiarghona Lamarpara Village under Kauarkhop Union in Ramu Upazila here on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abdu Shukkur, 28, son of Obaidul Haque of the village.
Family members said some youths including Kolim Ullah, 28, son of late Nasir Mohammad, Ebadullah, 24, son of late Ali Ahmad, Nurullah, 32, son of Md Ali, and Fazar Ali, 21, son of Nurul Islam of the village suddenly attacked Shukkur with sharp weapons at 10am on Tuesday, leaving him seriously injured. He was rushed to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where he was declared dead.
Zila Parishad Member and a local resident Shamsul Alam said the deceased had breakfast with his killers in the morning. Though the incident happened in broad daylight, nobody came to his rescue, he added.
Local Union Parishad Member Rafiqul Alam said the deceased cut the legs of a local youth Faridul Alam about one and a half years ago. Officer-in-Charge of Ramu Police Station Mizanur Rahman said the body was recovered and sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
