One youth was beaten to death at Goila under Agoiljhara upazila of Barisal on Friday night.
The victim was identified as Russell Bepari, 22, son of Nurul Islam Bepari from South Palardi of Gournadi.
Monirul Islam, Officer- In -Charge of Agoiljhara police station, quoting family sources said Russell with his associate Rintu Sarkar while going to Sherol on Friday afternoon ambushed by his rival Sagar Serniabad and beaten mercilessness.
Russell declared as dead by attending physician at 8:10 PM Friday while sent to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital and his associate Rintu admitted there in critical condition, police and hospital sources added.
Local sources said Russell and Rintu were notorious BCL cadres of Gournadi and accused in more than half-dozen cases of drug peddling, extortion and toll collection.
S M Aktaruzzaman, Barisal district police superintendent, said the incident may be happened over distribution of profit of drug peddling.
Nurul Islam, father of Russell, alleged that his son was killed after ambushed by his rivals’ preplanned calling to go Agoiljhara.
Mentionable Hira Bepari and Razzak Bepari, two BCL cadres and siblings of Russell, were arrested on Friday morning after looting petrol pump and injuring staffs demanding toll at Shaora on Gournadi -Poisarhut road of Barisal on Thursday night, said Sub Inspector Hasanuzzaman, investigation officer of the case.
