Staff Reporter :A youth succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday. A gang of miscreants seriously injured him on Friday as he protesting teasing of his sister in the city’s Bhashantek area.The deceased has been identified as Md Nasir Hossain, 25, a fish trader, son of Abdul Matin Sardar, resident of Pil Mohammad Colony in the area, police said.Quoting the relatives of the deceased, Bhashantek Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (investigation) Golam Nabi said that some eight to nine local miscreants, including Mamun, Alam, Sohel, Sujon and Bablu, had been stalking Nasir’s 15-year old maternal cousin (a student of Class VII) for last few days. On Friday afternoon, the miscreants harassed his cousin. Knowing that, Nasir protested and warned them of taking legal action if they continued teasing. Nasir also exchanged hot words with the stalkers over the issue.The gang attacked Nasir with sharp weapons around 9:30pm on his way home, leaving him critically injured. He succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) at 1:30am, the OC said.A case has been filed with the police station over the incident. The law enforcers are looking into the matter, the OC said. DMCH’s Police Outpost sub-Inspector (SI) Haidar said that the body had been kept in the hospital morgue.
