A Chittagong court on Wednesday sentenced a youth to death for murdering a six- year old child at Banigram village under Banskhali upazila in 2005.Judge of Chittagong Woman and Child Repression prevention Tribunal-1 Rezaul Karim handed down the verdict convicting Binod Bihari Chowdhury, for killing his neighbor Rajesh Kanti Dey over previous enmity who also hailed from the same village on January 13, 2005, court sources said. Court sources said the convict strangulated to death Rajesh Kanti Dey 06, son of Samir Kanti Dey over previous enmity at the hilly area beside the convict’s residence at Banigram village under Banskhali upazila in 2005. The convict hid the body in the pond after putting in a sack. Victim’s father filed a case with Banskhali thana against the convict on January 15 in 2005.
The Investigation Officer submitted charge sheet before the court on July 5 in 2005 while the court framed charges against him on October 11 in 2005.The court after examining a total of 14 witnesses out of 23 found Binod guilty. Accused Binod was not present in the court as he has absconding since securing bail.
