A young man named Rabiul Shaikh met his tragic end when he fell from a betel-nut tree in the village Khalishakhali within Maghia Union Parishad under Kachua Upazila in Bagerhat district on Thursday.
Locals said that in the morning on that day the ill-fated young man was plucking ripe betel-nuts from betel-nut trees in a garden belonging to one Dilip Kumar Mistry of village Khalishakhali. At one stage the young man jumped from one tree to another. But unfortunately he failed to catch it and fell down on the ground from the top the tree. As a result, he was fatally injured.
He was rushed to Kachua Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead. In this connection a UD case was lodged with the local PS. The deceased was the son of one Sekendar Shaikh of village of Purbo Maghi under the same upazila.
Kachua BNP president arrested
Hazra Asadul Islam Panna, President of Kachua Thana (Upazila) BNP in Bagerhat district was arrested by the police on Tuesday night in connection with a sabotaging case registered.
Hazra Asadul is the son of one late Zahurul Hazra of village Tengrakhali under Kachua Upazila in the district.
Md. Shamsher Ali, Officer-In-Charge of Kachua PS told the newsmen, police led a special drive at the night and arrested Hazra Asadul Islam, President of Kachua Thana BNP from Kachua Sadar area in connection with a sabotaging case lodged with Kachua PS . He was sent to jail hajat through the court.
Housewife raped
A young married woman who went to the house of her husband’s brother-in-law Kamrul Islam of village Bisharkhola within Gazalia Union Parishad under Kachua Upazila in Bagerhat to pay a visit there was violated by Karurul’s mason and his assistant on Tuesday in a broad daylight.
It is reported that at noon Kamrul Islam went out of his house for an urgent piece of business, his wife was cooking in the kitchen and the relative was in the dwelling house. Taking the opportunity Kamrul’s debauched mason Masum Shaikh and his assistant Zahidul Mridha who were constructing a boundary wall of the residence entered the dwelling house of Kamrul Islam, caught her relative, tied her mouth, hands and legs.took her to a corner of the residence where they committed rape on her forcibly. But at one stage she cried out loudly. On hearing the cry as soon as Kamrul’s wife rushed to the spot the rapists fled away.
In this connection the victim registered a case with Kachuas PS of Women and Children Oppression Act against the rapists . Shaikh Shamsher Ali, Officer-In-Charge of Kachua PS told the newsmen, an office was sent there and he has already completed his primary investigation and the victim was sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for her medical examination.
Kali Puja celebrated
Kali Puja, the second biggest religious festival of the Hindu community was celebrated in Bagerhat district town and its all the nine Upazilas amidst great enthusiasm and in a peaceful and happy atmosphere as usual on Tuesday night.
As many as 15 Puja mandaps were erected in the district town. Some of the madaps were highly decorated under the galaxy of multi-coloured flood lights and attracted a large number of Hindu devotees who offered the prayers to the Goddess Kali. The image of Dashani Puja Mandap was adjudged as the best one in respect of exquisite beauty and unique style of decoration.
