A young man named Helal Akon (35) who was beaten mercilessly by a number of alleged miscreants in the village Krisnanagar within Bagerhat Pourshava on Thursday evening succumbed to his injuries in Khulna Medical College Hospital on Friday morning while he was undergoing treatment. The deceased was the son of one Shahjahan Akon of the village (Krisnanagar).
Police and the locals said, on Thursday evening a number of miscreants armed with various lethal weapons went to near the house of the deceased, beat him mercilessly out of previous enmity with him and left him fatally injured. At one stage when he groaned out some locals rushed to spot, recovered him and admitted him to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for his treatment.
