A young girl was found slaughtered at a residential hotel in the district town on Tuesday evening.
Policed recovered the throat-slit body of Sumi Das, 20, from BM Resort around 6:30pm. They also recovered a blood-stained knife from the spot.
Citing the register, hotel manager Parvez said one Rahul Das and Sumi checked in at room No 108 of the hotel on Monday night introducing themselves as couple and hailing from Hatgaon village in Patia upazila of Chattogram.
Getting no response from the room throughout the day on Tuesday, they informed police, he said.
Later, police broke open the door only to find Sumi lying slaughtered, the hotel manager said. Officer-in-charge of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station Farid Uddin Khandakar said Rahul went into hiding. The body was sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy, he said.
