A young girl committed suicide following breach in relationship of love at Hawapara in the city on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Mariam Begum, 23, hailing from Maijdihi in Srimangal upazila. She used to work as a housemaid at the house of Mahfuz Miah at Hawapara.
Locals said Mariam had a relationship of love with a man.
On Tuesday, Mariam committed suicide hanging herself with the ceiling fan of room around 4.00pm as the man refused to marry her.
However, family members of Mahfuz Miah rescued him breaking the door and whisked her off to Sylhet Osmani Medical Hospital where on-duty doctors declared her dead.
On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the body to the hospital morgue.
