Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudury urged the young generation to come forward for building a prosperous country being imbued with the spirit of “Joy Bangla”. She made the call on Thursday while addressing the Shova Maharat of a liberation war-based film -“Joy Bangla Dhvani” – at Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum at Shahbagh .
She also officially opened the film’s Maharat ceremony. Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Sharmin said: “The Liberation War is our pride. The freedom fighters are the celebrated sons of the soil. We are going ahead due to their sacrifice.”
That is why, she said, it is the responsibility of all to collect and preserve all the information, documents and documents related to the Liberation War, reports BSS.
“Keeping the slogan Joy Bangla in our hearts, we will do our best to build a developed and prosperous Bangladesh and this is our pledge,” the Speaker said.
She said the new generation must be imbued with spirit of patriotism through informing them of the real history of the 1971 Liberation War by making the war-based films.
After the killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15, 1975, Dr Sharmin said ill-attempts were taken to distort the history of the Great War of Liberation.
After returning home in 1981, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took steps to preserve the true history and documents of the Liberation War, she said. “We celebrated the golden jubilee of the country’s independence under her leadership,” the Speaker said.
Chaired by chairman of the Standing Committee on the Liberation Affairs Ministry and Awami League presidium member Shajahan Khan, the meeting was addressed, among others, by former Culture Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, Information and Broadcasting secretary Md Mokbul Hossain and director general of Bangladesh National Museum Md Kamruzzaman. A One Multimedia proprietor and screenwriter, director and producer of the movie ‘Joy Bangla Dhvani’ M Khurshid moderated the event.
