Business Desk :
The three-day ‘Doi Mela 2022’, which started in order to introduce the very popular and traditional ‘Bhaisha Doi’ or ‘Bhaisha Yogurt’ among the people of the southern coast of the country, has come to an end on Monday.
The fair has been organised by the Sustainable Enterprise Project (SEP) implemented by the Family Development Organisation (FDA), a Bhola district-based non-governmental organisation, in collaboration with the government’s Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).
This different kind of yogurt fair with the sale of organic products in several areas of Dhaka including Lalmatia, Mirpur 2, Khilgaon, Gabtali, and Uttara started on July 2 and ended on July 4.
Where the market price of 1 kg of Bhaisha Yoghurt is Tk 250, the yogurt is sold at only Tk 165 with 30 per cent discount at the fair. Interested customers have collected the yoghurt through advance orders from the companies’ Facebook pages and directly from outlets during the fair.
Also, at this fair, pure ghee produced in Bhola Char Fashion has been sold to the customers at a discount of 25 per cent.
Md Kamal Uddin, Executive Director of FDA, said, “Bhaisha Yogurt has been very popular with the people of Bhola for centuries. But the people involved in the production of this product have not been able to become financially self-sufficient. We have this project to make them self-reliant. “
FDA-SEP Manager Md Harunur Rashid said, “We want this product of our region to be known to all the people of the country. And, I believe it will.”
