A teenage girl has reportedly been gang-raped in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat district after being confined to a house for several days.
Police arrested a suspect, Rocky, 20, an auto-rickshaw driver, on Friday night after the victim filed a case in this regard.
According to the case statement, the victim started for her home at Tepamadhupur in Kaunia upazila of Rangpur from her aunt’s house in Patgram upazila of Lalamonirhat by a train in the evening of October 6.
The train were late when it reached Kakina Railway Station around 8pm.
The girl got down from the train and went to a restaurant on the railway platform to have some snacks.
But when, the train left the station she missed it.
Rocky, son of Rajab Ali from Baninagar in Kaliganj, who was waiting for passengers on the platform with his auto-rickshaw approached the girl and assured reaching her home.
Rather, he took her to a house near Kakina Movie Hall around 1am on October 7 where three people raped her by turns.
They also confined her to the house and violated her multiple times.
Locals arranged a mediation session after they sensed the matter where the rapists were fined.

The girl went to Kaliganj Press Club on Friday morning
after the arbitrators gave her Tk 2,000 asking her to return home, and narrated the incident.
On information from journalists, police rescued the victim from the press club and took her to the police station.
Later, the girl filed a case against a number of people, including Rocky, and police arrested Rocky in a drive on Friday night, said Officer-in-Charge of Kaliganj Police Station Arju Mohammad Sajjad Hossain.
He also said they were trying to arrest the other suspects.
