Mohammad Ali Yakub Ali School blanked Shaheed Nabi High School by 33-0 points in the opening match of the Fiji Friendship Cup School Rugby Competition at the Paltan Maidan on Thursday.
In the day’s other matches, Saint Gregory’s High School overpowered Sunshine Pre-Cadet & High School by 54-3 points, Rahmatullah Model High School overwhelmed Ali Ahmad School by 31-4 points, Cambrian School crushed Islambagh Ashraf Ali High School by 22-0 points, Agargaon Taltola Government Colony High School thrashed Jatrabari Ideal School by 22-0 points and Mohammad Ali Yakub Ali School eased past Dhaka Modern Public School by 64-0 points at the same venue.
Earlier, Consul of Republic of Fiji Seemab Rasheed and Administrative Officer of Consulate of Republic of Fiji HM Jillur Rahman inaugurated the rugby meet as chief guests while National Sports Award winner Saidul Haque Saadi was with them as the special guest. Vice-President of Bangladesh Rugby Federation (BRF) Abdullah Al Jahir Shawpon, General Secretary of BRF Mousum Ali, Joint-Secretary of the Federation Sayeed Ahmed, PS to Chairman of National Sports Council and Secretary of the Tournament Committee Rashiduzzaman Serniabat were present, among others.
