Yaba worth Tk5.7 crore seized in Dhaka, 3 held

A consignment of yaba pills, worth about Tk5.7 crore, has been seized by the elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in the capital.
At that time, three people have also been arrested in this regard. They are identified as Aminul Islam, 26, Nurul Islam, 48, and Hedayet Ullah, 20.
RAB Commander Khandakar Al-Moin confirmed the news in a press briefing at RAB media center in Karwan Bazar of the capital on Sunday (August 7).
He said, acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB signaled a suspicious truck to stop so that it could be searched. Later, searching it, the law enforcers didn’t find anything at the empty truck.
At one stage, the RAB team recovered 1.90 lakh pieces of Yaba pills from the truck’s fuel tank.
According to RAB officials, the truck owner Sohel has been involved with yaba smuggling in a way under the guise of goods transportation business for the last 4-5 years.
Based on the code number, this circle of 7-8 people of Sohel used to deliver Yabar pills to different places of the country including Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj and Tangail. They were supposed to deliver the seized yaba consignment from Teknaf to Gazipur intersection, RAB officials added.
