Business Desk:
Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has decided to remove the built-in charger for its upcoming Mi 11, after the same move stirred huge controversy for the iPhone 12 series.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun earlier shared this major decision on Twitter saying this is a response “to curb environmental protection” reports gizguide.
The announcement came over a month after mocking Apple with their decision to remove the in-box charger of the iPhone 12 series and its older devices.
It showed that the Mi 11 will pack lightly using a slimmer box like iPhone 12.
This means that it won’t do the same move they made with the Mi 10T Lite Atlantic Blue variant where the company managed to reduce plastic packaging by about 60 percent while keeping all the essentials inside including the 33W fast charging power brick.
So, the Mi 11 phones might just come with the phone itself with the data/charging cable.
It’s yet unsure if this move will also apply to future Mi devices.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 is scheduled to launch on December 28. The device is expected to be the first device powered by the 5nm Snapdragon 888 high-end processor.
