There has been an allegation that the newborn died due to wrong treatment at Baraigram upazila in Natore district . The incident took place at O-R-Khan Memorial Hospital at Jonail Bazar of the upazila on Monday night.
The newborn died during the cesarean operation of Mst Ashia Begum. She is a wife of Alamgir Hossain of Pratabpur village of the upazila. The woman’s husband has complained that the newborn died due to negligence of the hospital authorities and concerned doctor Dr. Dolly Rani and demanded their punishment. The woman’s husband Alamgir said that, the wife was brought to the O-R-Khan Memorial Hospital,Jonail Bazar in the afternoon on Monday when she developed abdominal pain. Later in the evening,when the doctors hurriedly took the wife to OT without our permission, without examination, Dr. Dolly Rani, RMO of Baraigram Upazila Health Complex, performed a caesarean operation.
After coming out of the OT, Dr. Dolly Rani said that the child died in the womb 2 days ago. But before the operation, the hospital authorities and concerned doctors did not inform me that the child was dead inside the womb. The child died due to their wrong treatment. I want punishment of them.
The woman’s husband also said that 15 days before the incident, I brought my wife to Dr. Dolly Rani. Then she advised to come to the hospital with his wife after 2 weeks of examination. According to her advice, my wife was admitted to the hospital on last Monday as his wife developed abdominal pain.
Former chairman of Jonail Union Parishad. Tozammel Hossain said that the newborn died due to the negligence of the hospital authorities and Dr. Dolly Rani.
