Sylhet, Feb 10 (UNB) – At least 10 children, including three newborns, died reportedly for wrong treatment at Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital (SOMCH) in 12 hours till Tuesday morning. Hospital sources said 10 children died from 8:00pm on Monday to 8:00am today, of whom, three died due to birth complexities, three for pneumonia and four for diarrhoea related diseases. Deputy director of the hospital Dr Abdus Salam confirming the deaths said such a number of deaths at the hospital in 12 hours is abnormal. Families of the children alleged that the deaths were because of negligence on part of the doctors on duty. A three-member probe committee, led by Professor Dr Ismael Patowari, head of Medicine Department of SOMCH, has been formed to investigate the deaths. The committee has been asked it to submit its report in three days.
