A writ petition was filed with the High Court (HC) on Tuesday seeking a stay on the upcoming Bangladesh Bar Council election.
Supreme Court Lawyer Eunus Ali Akand filed the petition challenging the legality of the election schedule announced with a faulty voter list.
The Bar Council Election is scheduled to be held on May 14.
It was claimed in the writ that the voter list was not prepared as per section 27 of Bar Council Order and Rules 1972.
The writ also challenged the legality of two political panels-White Panel and Blue Panel-which it claimed contradicts the sections 7, 19, 28 and 31 of the Constitution and Bar Council Rules 62 (2).
After the filing of the writ, it was placed before three HC benches seeking hearing by Thursday. However, the benches returned it saying they could not hear it before Sunday.
Eunus said he will move the writ before another bench on Wednesday seeking hearing on Thursday.
