A writ petition was filed with the High Court on Sunday seeking its directive to investigate the alleged embezzlement of Barishal district’s freedom fighters allowance worth Tk 4 crore.
Four including Secretary of Liberation War Affairs Ministry, Barishal Deputy Commissioner (DC) and chief information officer of the Information Commission were made respondent to the petition.

Supreme Court (SC)lawyer Amit Das Gupta, who filed the writ, told reporters that a joint bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader are supposed to hear the petition on Sunday.
Earlier on January 2, a newspaper reported the graft allegation saying that the concerned ministry confirmed of sending the required amount of money to Barishal DC office, but 6,456 freedom fighters of the district alleged that they did not receive the money.
