Staff Reporter :
A writ petition was filed with the High Court on Monday seeking necessary action against three private hospitals for refusing to provide treatment to a patient and for charging extra from another patient.
The hospitals are— Metropolitan Hospital and Medical Centre Hospital in Chattogram and Anwar Khan Modern Hospital in Dhaka.
Jabul Hossain Royal, a resident from Jangalia village under Daganbhuiyan upazila in Feni, submitted the writ petition through his

lawyer, Advocate Yadia Zaman requesting the HC to direct the Health Secretary to take necessary action against the directors of the three hospitals.
In the petition, he said that the two hospitals in Chattogram refused to admit his mother Mansura Begun (67) on June 1, although she had been suffering from fever and high blood pressure, which is a violation of the Health Ministry directives.
Mansura Begun has been receiving kidney dialysis for last three years, Jabul said in the petition.
In the same petition, he said Anwar Khan Modern Hospital in Dhaka has reportedly charged Tk 86,000 from a patient named Mozammel Haque (67) for providing him oxygen for a while and charged Tk 2.5 lakh from the same patient for keeping him in hospital for three days for treatment. The HC is yet to fix any date for hearing the writ petition.
