Court Correspondent :
A writ petition was filed yesterday challenging the legality of Bangladesh Cricket Board’s proposed Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Barrister Shafique Ahmed filed the writ petition with the High Court Division of the Supreme Court on behalf of
Architect Mubasshar Hossain on Sunday.
Earlier, a legal notice was served asking the incumbent Board of Directors of the cricket board to refrain from holding AGM of the Board following the recent Supreme Court order.
Mubasshar claimed, according to the Supreme Court order, the BCB has no legal right to call Annual General Meeting. However, BCB has been planning to call the AGM on October 2 in a city hotel. For that reason, the complainant sent a legal notice to seven persons, including the BCB President, and the organisation to stop all kinds of activities about the AGM.
The notice said, BCB will have to stop annual and special meetings within 72 hours upon receiving the notice.
