Writ challenging ACC Act

A writ petition was filed with the High Court on Sunday challenging the validity of section 28 © of the Anti Corruption Commission (Amendment) Act 2013 providing punishment for false cases. Yunus Ali Akanda, a lawyer, filed the writ petition in the form of public interest litigation (PIL).
The section 28 © of the ACC (amendment) Act says, if someone intentionally
gives false information in graft charges, he or she will be convicted and has to serve 2-5 years’ imprisonment or pay fine or with both.
On November 11 last year, parliament passed the ACC (Amendment) Act 2013.
