The High Court on Monday dismissed a writ petition challenging the re-appointment of Taqsim A. Khan as Managing Director of Dhaka WASA, says a press release of WASA on 27.1.14 Hasan Mahmud, an Engineer, filed the writ.
A bench of the High Court comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Jafar Ahmed dismissed the petition on November 24 in 2013, as there was no legal merit therein.
Supreme Court Lawyer Abdul Baset Majumder appeared on behalf of petitioner Hasan Mahmud, while Attorney General
Mahbub-e-Alam, Additional Attorney General Mamtaj Uddin Fakir and Deputy Attorney General Ekramul Haque pleaded for the government.
Meanwhile, Engineer Dr Arifur Rahman filed another writ petition. A division bench of High Court comprising Kazi Rezaul Haque and ABM Altaf Hossain issued a rule on January 21 upon the government as to why the reappointment of Taqsim A. Khan should not be declared unlawful.
