World sees 6573 deaths, 262,943 cases in a day

In the last 24 hours, 262,943 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 6,573 died from the pandemic. Mexico has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic and infections during the period.

Earlier on Monday, 303,687 COVID-19 patients were detected while 7,153 deaths related to the disease were reported worldwide.

As of Tuesday morning (15-02-2021), a total of 109,676,360 people has been diagnosed with the virus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 2,418,768 while 84,215,251 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data.

The US, the worst-hit country in the world, has registered 954 deaths and 52,785 new cases in the last 24 hours. The country is still at the top in coronavirus deaths and infections. A total of 498,203 people died in the country due to the pandemic and 28,317,703 have been infected so far.

Brazil has seen the second-highest death toll of 601 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 239,895. The total number of cases has exceeded 9,866,710 with 32,197 new infections.

Mexico has registered the third-highest death toll of 436 during the time. With this, the tally of fatalities from the pandemic has risen to 174,207 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 1,992,794 as 4,099 new cases were confirmed during the period.

In France, 412 more people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 82,226. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 3,469,539 as 4,376 new cases were confirmed during the period.

Russia has reported 14,207 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall caseload to 4,086,090. The death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 80,520 with 394 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours.

The coronavirus, that first reported in China late last year, is now affecting 219 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances.
