The World Red Cross Red Crescent Day will be observed in the country as elsewhere across the globe on May 8 with the theme of the year ‘Our Principles in Action’.
Highlighting the practices and values, the day aims to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the seven Fundamental Principles.
Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) together with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) will jointly celebrate the day in Bangladesh amidst festivity, said a joint statement.
The Fundamental Principles guide the International Red Cross
and Red Crescent Movement’s (RCRC) decisions and work no matter the humanitarian challenges we face.
This emphasis on humanity which is the expression of its motivation.
The RCRC Movement is built on Voluntary Service while Unity and Universality serve to anchor its local action in global solidarity.
The Fundamental Principles are shared by 17 million dedicated volunteers in 189 Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies around the world.
The RCRC Movement is commemorating the 50th anniversary of the adoption of its Fundamental Principles throughout the year, including through a series of research projects and debates on the principles guiding humanitarian action.
