World Population Day observed

With the theme ‘Investing In Young People’ for future development, the World Population Day observed in Barisal on Friday.
The programmes of procession, discussion and prize giving ceremony at ‘mother and child welfare centre’ of the city were jointly organised by the family planning directorate and different development organisations to create awareness about population growth and related issues and to a reality of the human right to plan for a family.
The participants of the programmes called all to play a positive role in creating awareness against early marriage and its impact on reproductive health services among the young people.
Rangpur Correspondent reports : Speakers at a post-rally discussion here today called for containing population growth through adopting family planning methods to attain the set development goals in building a healthier, prosperous and developed Bangladesh.
They stressed expanding family planning programme effectively to every able couple through creating mass awareness to contain population growth rate.
They were addressing the discussion arranged by Family Planning Department (FPD) in observance of the World Population Day- 2014 with the theme of ‘Invest in Young People’ in the city as elsewhere in the country and the globe.
Narsingdi from BSS says : The World Population Day-2014 was observed in the district in a befitting manner.
To observe the day, Family Planning Department brought out a colorful rally in the town.
The rally brought out from office premises of Deputy Commissioner was ended at Sadar Upazila office compound after parading the main roads of the town.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) Suraiya Begum led the rally.
Later, a discussion meeting was held at Sadar Upazila auditorium with Deputy Director of Family Planning SM Anwar Hossain in the chair.
BSS from Gaibandha adds: Speakers in a function here on Friday stressed the need for establishing planned family in every sections of the society to build poverty and hunger free country.
“In this context, importance should be given on reducing rate of unwanted pregnancy and fertility through expediting the field level activities by the employees concerned of government and non-government organisation (NGO) at a greater extent,” they said.
They made the comments while addressing a discussion meeting on observing the World Population Day-2014 jointly organised by Department of Family Planning and Friendship, a leading NGO of the country, at the auditorium of Zila Parishad of the town here at noon.
