The World Mother’s Day was observer in Narsingdi in a befitting manner as elsewhere in the country.
To mark the day Narsingdi District Administration and District women affairs department organised a discussion meeting on Sunday with due honor to the woman at Narsingdi Sader upazila auditorium.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Suriaya Begum attended the discussion as chief guest with District women Affairs officer Omah Mahamuda Khanum in the chair.
The discussion meeting was addressed among others by Executive Director of CDMS Safura Begum, Director Mahila Katyan Kandra Rahana Begum and a child Tahahura Labid Tora.
The speakers said mothers development means national development they urged the government to implement policies which guarantee maternity protection for greater well being of mothers as well as society They showed special honor to the mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds and the role of mothers in society.
Minor girl Tora, a student at class five said she loves her mother like anything as they know for sure that there in no greater gift than a mothers love for him. My mother loves me. I also love her. Today I will give her special gift.
Barisal Correspondent reports: World Mother’s Day observed on Sunday at Barisal city and Ujirpur upazila town under Barisal district by Bangladesh Girl Guides Association calling to respect the role of mother all over the year.
In the programme at Ujirpur Secondary Education Office auditorium was presided over by Syeda Tanzila Zannat, local commissioner BGGA Uzirpur upazila unit president and discussion meeting, cultural function was held and reception was given to a mother.
In the programmes at Barisal Islamia College was presided over by Begum Faizunn Nahar, regional commissioner BGGA and quiz competition about ‘Makey Jano( know your mother)’ and exchange of views, experiences by the mothers and daughters, cultural function were held
BSS feom Gaibandha adds: Speakers in a function here On Sunday stressed the need for showing due respect to mother and motherhood, maternal bonds and roles of the mother in the society.
“In the world, mother is the dearest and closest person to her child and no mother wants her child suffer from any illness, especially a chronic illness that will forever impact their lives”, they said.
They made the comments while addressing a discussion meeting organized by Sinnomul Mohila Samity (SMS), a local NGO, at its hall room to mark the World Mother Day-2014.
Sadar UNO Ashraful Momin Khan addressed the function as the chief guest and upazila female vice chairman Rashida Begum was present as the special guest.
With executive director of SMS Morshedur Rahman Khan in the chair, the meeting was also addressed, among others, by chairman of Ballamjhar union parishad Imarul Islam Sabin and journalists Sarker M Shahiduzzaman and Asaduzzaman Mamun.
The speakers also emphasized ensuring peaceful environment for the mother in all spheres of the society in a bid to pay homage to the mother and evaluate them properly as without the mother no child would see the world.
They also thanked the AL government for introducing the provision of write down the names of mother side by side with father in any applications form.
A large number of mothers coming from far flung areas of the Upazila, social workers and media men took part in the meeting.
