With the theme “Living and dying in pain: It doesn’t have to happen”, World Hospice and Palliative Care Day 2016 will be observed today. On the occasion a Film show, alongside photo exhibition and scientific seminar will be held at Sonargaon Ball Room at 9am today. In conjunction with World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, the film will premiere at special events in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Myanmar, attended by invited guests from the countries’ healthcare community, government representatives and palliative care advocates. In Bangaldesh, the Minister of Health and Family Welfare will be the Guest of Honour, Bangladesh Medical Association President and Secretary and Prof. Cynthia Goh, Singapore at the event held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel today.
Complementing the film screening is a photo exhibition held at the same venue, underscoring the urgency for countries to integrate palliative care into their existing healthcare systems and remove barriers to pain relief medications.
