The World Health Day was observed on Thursday in the country as elsewhere in the globe with the theme of the day ‘Our
Planet, Our Health’.
Civil Surgeon (CS) office in Kishoreganj arranged a colour full rally, discussion, seminar, postering marking the day.
A discussion meeting was held at Kishoreganj General Hospital conference room on Thursday.
Deputy Director (DD)in Kishoreganj General Hospital dr.Md.Helaluddin attended as chief guest while Civil Surgeon (CS) dr.Saiful Islam presided over.
Civil Surgeon dr.Saiful Islam said the government is implementing massive development schemes to bring healthcare to the doorsteps of the people as healthcare is one of the basic human needs.
The quality of medical services in the country has increased as a result of development of health infrastructure, creation and recruitment of skilled manpower, procurement of state-of-the-art medical equipment and use of information technology, CS in Kishoreganj added.
Later, a colour full rally brought out in the town on Thursday morning marking the world health day.

The Civil Surgeon’s Office organised the discussion at the Conference Room of the Civil Surgeon in the city in observance of the World Health Day on Thursday. The Civil Surgeon’s Office in association with Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Office and other organizations chalked out programmes to observe the day. Earlier, health officials, employees, workers and volunteers, teachers, students, civil society members and socio-cultural activists participated in the colorful rally that paraded the city streets.
Civil Surgeon of Rangpur Dr. Shameem Ahmed presided over the discussion.
Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Ruhul Amin, Senior Health Education Officer Geeta Roy and District Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) Superintendent Abdul Mottaleb, among others, addressed.

The World Health Day is a global health awareness day being observed every year on April 7 to mark the anniversary of the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO) in order to provide the people with a unique opportunity to mobilize action around a specific health topic of concern to people all over the world. Marking the day, a rally was brought out by the Civil Surgeon Office of the district this morning which paraded different streets of the town.
A discussion meeting was also held in the conference room of the civil surgeon office with civil surgeon Dr. Shuvra Rani Debnath in the chair.
Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Mithila Parveen, Junior Consultant (Medicine) of Sadar Hospital Dr. Zakir Hossain, Senior Health Education Officer of Civil Surgeon’s Office Abdur Rahman, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Speakers said that most people are not aware about their health. As a result, at a young age, people are suffering from diabetes and various diseases including heart problems.
They said the government has taken massive development schemes to bring healthcare to the doorsteps of the people. If people avail this opportunity they will be benefitted.
