The World Health Day was observed in the industrial city on Tuesday in a befitting manner.
To mark the day, elaborate programmes including colourful procession and discussion meeting were held in the city.
The theme of the day is “From farm to plate, make food safe”.
A colourful procession was brought out in the city led by lawmaker of Khulna-2 constituency Mizanur Rahman Mizan as the chief guest. It started from the Circuit House Ground and ended at School Health Clinic premises after parading the main streets.
Earlier, lawmaker Mizan inaugurated the programme by releasing baloons in the sky.
A discussion was held in the conference room of School Health Clinic with Khulna Civil Surgeon Dr. Yasin Ali Sarder in the chair.
Khulna deputy commissioner Md. Mostofa Kamal addressed the discussion as chief guest while divisional coordinator of WHO Dr. M Morshed Ahmed addressed it as special guest. Among others, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Eshak Ali and ex-deputy civil surgeon Dr. Hame Zamal were present.
Speakers stressed the need for creating awareness among the mass people in order to ensure the good health keeping in mind the theme of the day.
A large number of people joined the procession and discussion meeting.

A discussion meeting on Safe Food-Healthy Life was held at Kishoreganj 250-bed Modern Hospital conference hall on Tuesday.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Muklesur Rahman was attended as chief guest while Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Habibur Rahman presided.
It was addressed among others by Sadar Health & Family Planning Administrator Dr. Sultana Rajia, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, BRAC Manager Bazlur Rashid, Nutrition Specialist of UNICEF Md. Rushawan Ahamed, Rafiqul Islam of PSTC and Heart Specialist Dr. Abu Taher.
Civil Surgeon Dr Muklesur Rahman said Bangladesh Government is committed to ensure safe food for all and to that in view, it passed new safe food law- 2013.
