The Directorate of Environment (DoE), Chattogram on Tuesday observed the World Environment Day with various programmes including a discussion meeting.
In observance of the day, DoE held a discussion meeting on the day’s theme “Do not reuse plastic waste, if possible shun it” at Hall 24 auditorium in the afternoon. DoE director Azadur Rahman Mallik presided over the meeting while Divisional Commissioner of Chattogram Abdul Mannan attended the meeting as the chief guest, Mohammad Jafar Alam, member (admin and planning) of Chittagong Port Authority, Dr Shahdat Hossain, of the Institute of Marine Science and Fisheries of Chattogram University and additional Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Habibur Rahman, among others, participated in the discussion.
Woman commits ‘suicide’: A woman allegedly committed suicide at her residence in Chittagong city on Wednesday.
The deceased is Rita, 25, wife of Md Mahmud, a government employee.
A family member found her hanging from the ceiling of her residence in Segun Bagan area and brought her to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, said Assistant Sub-inspector Alauddin Talukdar of CMCH police outpost. The body was sent for an autopsy, said SI Helal of Khulshi Police Station.
