The teachers, students and employee of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry (AH) of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) celebrated World Egg Day on last Saturday for the first time much enthusiasm and amid festivity on the campus.
The Poultry Science department of the faculty chalked out a day-long programme to celebrate the day. A colourful procession with different types of poster, festoon and placard started from the faculty building at around 10:00 am and paraded whole campus. The state minister for fisheries and livestock Narayon Chandra Chanda was present the rally.
After the rally the state minister distributed boiled eggs among the children of KB govt. primary school in the Campus.
Later, World’s Poultry Science Association Bangladesh Branch in collaboration with the department of Poultry Science of BAU arranged a seminar titled “Eggs for me, Eggs for you and Eggs for all.”
In the seminar presented as a chief guest the state minister urged the Animal Husbandry (AH) graduates to more improved research upon livestock to increase production of egg, milk and meat for ensuring nutritional security of the common people of the country.
BAU VC Prof Dr Rafiqul Haque presented the programme as a chief patron with dean of BAU Animal Husbandry faculty Prof Dr S D Chowdhury as Chaired.
Noted dairy scientist Prof Dr Subash Chandra of poultry Science department presented the key note paper in the seminar.
Among others, Ajoy Kumar Roy, Director General, department of Livestock Services, Suchat Santi Padh, President of CP Bangladesh Ltd and Prof Dr Asraf Ali, convenor and Prof Dr Fauzia Sultana, member secretary of Egg day celebration committee addressed the programme.
