Country Director of World Bank in Bangladesh Mr. Johanes Jaat has expressed interest to invest in Chittagong Port for modernization of the port in global standard.
He expressed this view in a meeting held with Chittagong Port Chairman Rear Admiral Nezamuddin Ahmed after visiting the port on Thursday .
Port sources said, a World Bank team headed by the country director visited Chittagong Port on Thursday.
The visiting team went round different berths of the port. Later, WB officials held meeting with CP chairman and high officials of the Port. Port chairman apprised the WB team about different infrastructure facilities of bulk cargo handling, container handling and the prospect of transshipment of cargo through CP to neighbouring courtries.
Besides, the WB team visited different industrial units of Chittagong Export Processing Zone and held meeting with the BEPZA officials there.
