World Autism Day observed

World Autism Awareness Day was observed in Thakurgaon on Thursday. Social Welfare Directorate with the help of district administration organised different programmes to observe the Day. A rally was brought out in the town in the morning from DC office premises. A discussion meeting was also arranged at district council auditorium. Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner Mukes Chandra Biswas was present as Chief Guest and Additional Deputy Commissioner Munjur Alom was present as special guest. The speakers said, 11 per cent of the total population of the country are physically or mentally challenged.
Staff Reporter from Kishoreganj adds: The World Atism Awarnes Day- 2015 was observed here on Thursday with a view to creating awareness .
Kishoreganj District Administration, Social Service Department and non-government organizations jointly arranged discussion, rally, cultural function and documentary film marking the Day.
A discussion meeting on Autism Awareness to action “A Good News for Social Inclusion” was held at Government Child Family auditorium in the town on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner S.M. Alam attended as Chief Guest while Deputy Director of Social Service Department Md. Shamsul Alam presided .
It was addressed among others by Civil Surgeon Dr. Muklesur Rahman Khan, ADC (Gen) Jamil Ahamed, Prof Dr. Mohiuddin Ahamed, Principal Rafiqul Islam Khan, Saiful Quddess of POPI and Sadar Social Welfare Officer Salma Khanam.
Later, a colourfull rally was brought in the town.
BSS from Faridpur adds: World Autism Awareness Day, a global programme was observed here on Thursday through holding rally and discussion meeting.
The programme in the district was jointly organized by Social Services Department and District Administration.
A rally participated by children with various disabilities, officials and NGO people carrying placards and festoons was brought out in the town to create awareness among the people about the disable people particularly autistic. DC Sardar Sharafat Ali led the rally.
A discussion meeting on ‘Autism Spectrum Disorder’ was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Faridpur. ADC (Gen) Md. Abdur Rashid was in the chair while Sadar upazilla chairman Kh.Mohtesham Hossain Babor was the chief guest in the meeting.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Asit Ranjan Das, educationist Prof. Md. Shahjahan, Diabetic Association secretary Prof SK. Abdus Samad, Physiotherapist Dr. Iqbal Ahmed, Awami League leader Mokarrom Mia Babu, Acting DD of Social Service ASM Ahsanuddin and NGO personnel Azharul Islam addressed the meeting.
Speakers stressed the need for identifying the autistic children with more care because it is very much complicated to separate this genetically problem with mentally disable children.
Speakers also emphasized on enhancing the communication skill of the autistic children carefully with sympathetic approach alongside the counseling of the parents and family members of the same children.
The chief guest told the audience that the present government has increased allocation for the development of the disable people manifold for their well-being. The poor families of the disable people have been brought under government’s social safety net so that the parents cannot think the disabled as burden, he added.
Speakers also thanked Saima Wajed, the daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, for her dynamic role and contribution for bringing autistic children in the mainstream of the society.
