World Autism Awareness Day observed

The 15th World Autism Awareness Day was observed in the country as elsewhere across the globe on Saturday.
The theme this year is ‘Emon Bishwa Gori, Autism Boishishto-somponno Bektir Protiva Bikoshito Kori’.
In 2008, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously declared April 2 as the World Autism Awareness Day to highlight the needs to help improve the lives of children and adults who suffer from the disorder.
Social Service Department including District Administration in Kishoreganj arranged a colour full rally discussion , cultural function marking the day.
A discussion meeting was held at local child family (girls) auditorium on Saturday morning.
ADC (Education & ICT) Golam Mostafa attended as chief guest while Deputy Director (DD) in Social Service kazi Kamruzzaman presided over.
It was addressed among others by Assistant director Md.Shahidul, social service officer salma Khanam.
ADC Golam Mostafa said to ensure the constitutional rights of persons with disabilities, the government has already enacted Rights and Protection of Persons with Disabilities Act 2013, Neuro-Developmental Disability Protection Trust Act-2013, Bangladesh Rehabilitation Council Act 2018 and Integrated Special Education Policy, 2019.
As a result of the implementation of these laws, policies and regulations, the rehabilitation process continues along with the provision of medical and therapy services as per the type and extent of disability, ADC Golden Mostafa added.
Social Service DD kazi Kamruzzaman said, Autism Resource Center has been set up under the Ministry of Social Welfare which is a landmark initiative of the government.
DD kamruzzaman hoped that the launch of the Autism and Neuro developmental disabilities (NDD) Service Center will further improve the quality of life of children and individuals with autism and other NDD children and individuals.
He said the greatest Bangalee of all time, Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman ensured the equal rights of all citizens in the constitution of independent Bangladesh.

On the occasion, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner office this morning. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shamim Ahmed addressed the function as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Nadeem Sarwar in the chair.
Educationist Subidh Kumar Maitra, Principal Abdur Razzak, Deputy Director of
the District Social Service Office Md. Mostafizur Rahman, President of Natore
Press Club Faraji Ahmed Rafiq Baban were present, among others, on the
occasion.
Speakers at the discussion said the present government is working for the
welfare of persons with disabilities and implemented various programmes to
link them with the mainstream of the development.
The government is being provided disability allowance, education stipend and
also given proper treatment to the children and adolescents with autism so
that they could be an asset to their family, society as well as the state,
they added.
