The World Autism Awareness Day was observed in the country as elsewhere across the world on Sunday in order to raise awareness though events and raise funds for autism, a development disorder to children characterized by impaired communication, excessive rigidity and emotional development.
Social Service Department of Kishoreganj District arranged a rally, discussion, postering and cultural function marking the Autism Awareness Day on Sunday.
A discussion meeting was held at Local Child (Girls) Family Auditorium with Deputy Director Md. Rabiul Islam in the chair. Acting Deputy Commissioner Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil and Civil Surjeon Dr. Habibur Rahman attended as chief and special guest.
It was addressed among others by Principal Prof Rafiqul Islam Khan, Senior Adv Dholon Bhowmmik, Rtd. Headmaster Khaleda Islam, Former Press Club President A.K. Nasim Khan, CAB President Aam Sarowar Tito, Social Service Officer Salma Khanam, Monir Hossion, Women Chamber Leader Bilkis Begum and Mohila Somity Secretary Adv Maya Bhowhmik.

Narial district administration and Department of Social Services arranged a procession and discussion in the morning on the occasion.
The procession starting from in front of the deputy commissioner (DC) office paraded different streets in the town before ending in a discussion meeting in the conference room of the same office. Deputy Commissioner Md Helal Mahmud Sharif addressed the discussion.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Siddiqur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kazi Mahabubur Rashid and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nasima Khatun spoke on the occasion.
