The World Accreditation Day-2017 on Sunday observed in the country like elsewhere in the world on June 9.
The International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) jointly established the day to raise awareness of the importance of accreditation, said a press release.
This year, the theme of the day is “Accreditation: Delivering Confidence in Construction and the Built Environment”.
The theme focuses on how accreditation delivers confidence in construction and the built environment.
Building and construction sector play an important role in economic development, employment creation and the environment protection.
This will also depict demonstrated implementation of policies and regulations relating to construction and built environment for public health and safety, environment protection, fraud prevention and gaining public trust.
The day celebrated in befitting manner across the world with the hosting of major national events, seminars and media coverage to communicate the value of accreditation to stakeholders working in different phases of construction and built environment.
Bangladesh government has declared World Accreditation Day as National Day. Like past Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) and Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) jointly celebrated this day in great enthusiasm through organizing symposium, seminars, press conference, issuing posters and souvenir and TV talk show etc.
The public sector assurance website, jointly created by global quality infrastructure organizations, contains further examples and research to demonstrate the value that accreditation plays in this sector.
