Workshop on library capacity building at UGC

A daylong workshop on ‘Central Library Capacity Building’ organized by Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) was held at UGC auditorium on Thursday. Prof Dr Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Member, UGC was the chief guest at the function. Prof Dr Md. Akhtar Hossain, Member, UGC presided over it. Dr Gauranga Chandra Mohanta, ndc, Project Director (Additional Secretary), HEQEP and Dr Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, Senior Operations Officer, World Bank were the special guests. Prof Dr Dil Afroza Begum, Member, UGC also addressed the event. Dr Md. Khaled, Secretary, UGC gave the vote of thanks.
Hasina Afroz, Librarian of BRAC University conducted a session on Administrative Management of UDLe-resources while Dr SM Zaved Ahmed, Department of Information Science and Library Management of Dhaka University conducted session on Exploration of UDLe-resources at the workshop.
The chief guest in his speech said that Digital Library is the best way to overcome time, space and money constraints. He stressed the need for promoting and expediting the use of digital resources among the students, teachers and researchers to enhance their knowledge and skills to survive in today’s globalized world.
He also called for raising the awareness about the use of digital library among the students, teachers and researchers.
Prof Akhtar Hossain in his presidential speech highlighted the overall picture digital library in the workshop. He urged the researchers to make best use of facilities of digital library to enhance their knowledge for the development of the nation.
Librarians from 80 public and private universities of the country participated in the workshop. Senior officials from UGC and HEQEP, among others were present on the occasion.
