A two-day workshop titled ‘English for Journalism’ has begun at Begum Rokeya University (B R U ), Rangpur on Thursday .
University’s Proctor Dr. Abu Kalam Farid Ul Islam inaugurated the workshop which is organised by the Public Relations, Information and Publications Division of the university.
Administrator of Public Relations, Information and Publications Division Prof Dr. Sarifa Salowa Dina chaired the inauguration ceremony.
A R Farrukh Ahmad, Assistant Editor of the English daily The New Nation was the key-note speaker and moderator of the workshop.
The chief guest of the inauguration ceremony of the workshop Dr. Farid ul Islam said journalism is a great job. At the same time, people involved in journalism have to be proficient in different languages. He also said that Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah BTFO has taken initiatives to organize workshops and seminars since his joining, which I think will play a role in improving the quality of our university.
Assistant Administrator of Public Relations, Information and Publications Division of the university and Mr. Asif Al Matin, Staff Reporter , Rangpur of The New Nation Abdur Rahman Mintu were also present on the occasion. In the workshop, the officials of the Public Relations, Information and Publications Division members of Begum Rokeya University Journalists’ Association and a number of students from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism are participating.
