A day-long workshop on the socioeconomic empowerment of women through promotion of natural fiber- based products from agricultural wastages held at Zonal Cooperative training institute in the Narsingdi on Sunday.
Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI) with the financial assistance of Ministry of Industries and European Union organized the workshop under the project of Bangladesh, INSPIRED.
Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Narsingdi Rahan Uddin addressed the function as the chief guest with Director of BWCCI, Gulshan Nasrin Chowdhury in the chair.

Unit manager of the project, Narsingdi, Siddiqur Rahman presented the welcome speech.
The target of the project is to develop the socioeconomic condition of the women folk.
The project area are Narsingdi, Giibandha, Tangail district and Modupur upazila.
For conducting the work, unit offices and production centers were established in the project areas and placing of machine have already completed to processing the fiber specially bark of banana tree and leaves of pineapple tree, said project coordinator Sayed Sultan.
The chief guest Rahan Uddin said the project would help the women for becoming self-reliant.
