Dolphins are very important for our ecosystem. They are top level predators and control population of the fish and squid to preserve the balance of the ecosystem, speakers said in a workshop on Tuesday.
Bangladesh Forest Department and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) organized the half-day long inception workshop on “Expanding the Protected Area System to Incorporate Important Aquatic Ecosystem Project” at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the city.
Istiaque Ahmed, Secretary of Environment Ministry graced the workshop as the chief guest while Kyoko Yokosuka,
Deputy Country Director of UNDP Bangladesh as special guest. Abdul Mabud, Deputy Chief Conservator of Forest Department chaired the workshop and Md Modinul Ahsan, Project Director and Divisional Forest Officer, presented the Keynote.
Istiaque Ahmed, Secretary of Environment Ministry said, “We have seen species of Dolphin in our country and this is our duty to conserve these species.”
