VARD organized a workshop on Disaster Management Planning recently Project funded by Comprehensive Disaster Management Programme (CDMP II) at the Hall Room of Dharmapasha Upazila Parishad, Sunamganj. Mohammad Khaledur Rahman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Dharmapasha, was present as the chief guest on the occasion and Abdul Auyal, the Upazila Chairman, Dharmapasha, presided over the workshop. Md. Fazdul Hoque, Master Facilitator of VARD-DM Plan Project moderated the workshop.
In this welcome speech, Samir Ranjan Baral, Assistant Director (FO), VARD, congratulated all the guests at the meeting. He explained goal and objectives of DM Plan Project and of the workshop as well.
In the open discussion part of the workshop, participants from different institutions of GO and NGO shared their experience and expressed their opinion to prepare disaster management plan which will be helpful to mitigate the risk of disaster.
The chief guest Mohammad Khaledur Rahman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Dharmapasha, told that the main hazards of this area are flash flood, water logging and thunderstorm. He thinks the plan will be realistic if it is prepared in consultation with union parishads, different departments at upazila level and Sabolombi Dol.
