LGED and International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) have jointly organized a National-Start-Up Workshop on Climate Adaptation and Livelihood Protection at LGED headquarters on Thursday. Senior Secretary of Local Government Division of LGD Monzur Hossain inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest while IFAD Country Programme Officer Nicolas Syed was present as the special guest. LGED Chief Engineer Shyama Prosad Adhikari was in the chair, says a press release.
Haor Development Project (HILIP) is working in 28 upazilas under five districts of haor region in the country for improving livelihood of the people, said the Chief Guest. He further said that after successful implementation of the project, about a three million people will directly be benefitted through this project.
Shyama Prosad said that LGED has been working for the people about climate adaptation and of their livelihood protection. He informed that 12 projects on climate adaptation and livelihood protection are on progress in the haor area. Among them, Haor Development Project (HILIP) is the most important project.
IFAD Country Programme Officer Nicolas Syed said that we are working for development of the poor specially affected by floods in the area. He said, we had first provided our assistance in the CBRMP Project at Sunamganj in 2003 and Haor Development Project is the continuation of our endeavor like that.
A vast number of people will get facilities provided that it is depended on proper and successful implementation of the project, he added.
Among others spoke on the programme are LGED Project Director of Haor Development Project (HILIP) Gopal Chandra Sarker. The workshop will be continued till 31 January 2015.
