Workshop on Asia regional assoc of public accounts committee held

A two-day view-exchange workshop of the Asia Regional Association of Public Accounts Committee, comprising public accounts committees of ten Asian countries, was held here on Friday.
The parliamentary public accounts committee officials from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bhutan exchanged their views in the workshop, said an official release of the Jatiya Sangsad secretariat here.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Estimate Abdul Matin Khosru inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest while senior Financial Management Specialist of the World Bank (WB) Les Koizima spoke as the special guest. Matin Khosru said the parliamentary public accounts committee officials have a particular role for strengthening the public accounts committees.
He said the workshop could ensure transparency and accountability of the public money by sharing experiences among the officials of the public accounts committees from different countries.
Financial Management Specialist from the World Bank (WB) Mrs Suriya Jannat, Senior Economic Advisor Omar Faruque, senior secretary of the Jatiya Sangsad secretariat M Ashraful Makbul, additional secretary (IPA) Pronob Chatergee, among others, participated in the workshop.
