Workshop for visually-impaired teachers held

Access to Information (a2i) programme of Prime Minister’s Officer (PMO) and Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) on Tuesday jointly organised a workshop for visually-impaired teachers in the city.
Held at Karabi Hall of PMO, the workshop was addressed by a2i Project Director and Director General (Admin) of PMO Kabir Bin Anwar as the chief guest. Director General of DSHE Professor Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, Joint Programme Director of Secondary Education Sector Investment Programme Mohammad Abu Sayeed Sheikh and Project Director of Teaching Quality Improvement in Secondary Education (TQI-II) Mohammad Jahir Uddin Babar were present at the workshop as special guests, among others. Twenty-four visually-impaired teachers who had received training on ICT, have also been given laptops to apply the accumulated knowledge in a regular classroom environment.
To implement the Vision-2021, special importance has been given on “ICT use in education”. In this regard, Education Ministry, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and a2i have jointly led multiple initiatives across the country- to spread numerous technological advancements in education including multimedia classroom, teachers’ portal, Muktopaath, and Konnect, a2i sources said. Visually-impaired persons of Bangladesh are not behind when it comes to implementing vision of Digital Bangladesh.
