Workshop for commercial use of banana fiber based products

Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI) and BURO Bangladesh organized a workshop on Commercial Expansion of Banana Fiber Based Products recently at Conference Room of Human Resource Development Center, BURO Bangladesh at Registrypara, Tangail, says a press release.
The project ‘Socio- economic empowerment of women through promotion of natural fiber-based products from agricultural wastages’ under Bangladesh INSPIRED programme funded by European Union and Ministry of Industries of Bangladesh has been being implemented by BWCCI to build capacity of 2000 women entrepreneurs for producing handicrafts from banana and pineapple fiber, thus to reduce poverty and empower women where BURO Bangladesh is the partner of BWCCI for the project.
Pranesh Chandra Banik, Deputy-Director, BURO Bangladesh presided over the workshop, while Manira Sultana, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), Tangail was the Chief Guest and Md.Azizur Rahaman, Deputy Director, Youth Development Department, Tangail and Md. Harunur_Rashid, a renowned social worker was present as Special Guests at the event. Women entrepreneurs, public and private sector officials, NGO representatives and other relevant stakeholders participated in the workshop.  
ADC (Revenue) in her speech focused on product design and diversification, soft loan provision for women entrepreneurs and continuous research on quality of fibers and products.
