The workers in a foreign invested cycle industry in Chittagong Export Processing Zone observed strike for non-implementation of pay scale as recently declared by the govt. The workers remained absent from work from monday and following the assurance of the implementing the pay scale ;by the authority, the workers again joined the work at about 2 pm on Tuesday.
Asstt. Director of Industrial police Arifur Rahman confirmed the strike of the workers of Alita BD Ltd, a foreign invested cycle industry. Industrial police official sources said the workers were paid the salary of December and january according to old scale and assured to pay the enhanced amount in phases but the workers did not agree to that assurances. on the other hand , General manger of the Factory told the New Nation that workers have been paid salary as per new scale but the workers could not correctly calculated the salary figure which creates misunderstandings among the workers.
