A worker died in a landslide near Jaflang Mandir in Gowainghat upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Mostakim Mia, son of Batir Mia, resident of Ichabpur village of Baniachang upazila in Habiganj.
Officer-in-Charge of Gowainghat Police Station Jahangir Hossain Sarder said Mostakim was working in a makeshift stone quarry when one of its sides collapsed, leaving Mostakim dead.
Later, police recovered the body and sent it to the Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
Three people were arrested in connection with Mostakim’s death. The arrestees are- Jaran Ali, son of Ayub Ullah, Lebu Mia, son of Abdul Hamid from Ichabpur village, and Jatish Das, son of Jatindra Das from Ranarchar village in Sunamganj.
