A worker was killed after a pipe fell on his head while extracting sand from Padma River in Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project area on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Saiful Islam, 23, son of Shahid Mridha of Charjonekathi village of Patuakhali.
Officer-in-Charge of Ishwardi Police Station Bahauddin Faruki said Saiful was working for
TCL contractor company in the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant. The workers were dredging sand from Padma River while a pipe fell on Saiful’s head leaving him severely injured.
When he was taken to the upazila Health complex, doctors pronounced him dead, he added.
